I love putting my IPod on shuffle and discovering songs that maybe I had forgotten.

2. Plain White T's Hey there Delilah. Certainly a contrast to Amy Winehouse, it is such a sweet song.

6. Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray.
7. I don't feel like loving you today by Gretchen Wilson.

I don't know why so many of my songs are depressing! I think I still love torch songs more than any other type of music.

13 TV Shows I'm looking forward to watching this fall

1. The new season of How I met your mother. I'm not a regular watcher, but I do love the show.
2. Journeyman on NBC. Sounds a bit like early edition or that show where they go back in time but just a set amount of hours, but sounds interesting.
3. NCIS! Of course! I love that show.
4. Reaper. sounds intriguing.
5. House. I was so disappointed that everyone is coming back! I thought we'd get new people, but I'm sure we'll get some.
6. Pushing Daisies (crunched for time, so no more links)
7. CSI
8. Criminal Minds, though I'm still annoyed with Mandy!
9. Bones!
10. Supernatural!
11. ooooh, Moonlight
12. Law and Order Criminal Intent, though its banished to USA...

13 of my favorite Disney songs.
We are preparing for a yard sale and went through our games today. I have Disney Trivia 1&2, Disney monopoly and Sorry. This inspired my topic for this Thursday. :-}


1. The Little Mermaid's Part of your world. The perfect song for a girl who feels like an outside and wants to experience normal life.


2. Mulan's Reflection.


3.Dumbo's Baby mine. I don't like Dumbo the movie, but I love this song. Especially when Bette Midler sings it in Beaches. :-}


4. Lady and the Tramp's He's a Tramp. Such a fun song.


5. The Aristocat's Everybody wants to be a cat.


6.Pete's Dragon's Candle on the Water. I couldn't find a picture of Helen Reddy that had anything to do with Pete's Dragon.


7.American Tale's Somewhere out there. What a song for day dreamers and lonely folks.


8. Newsie's Santa Fe. Who hasn't longed to be somewhere else.


9. Hunchback of Notre Dame's God Help the Outcast. Such a beautiful song, though not entirely nice to the church. But I think sometimes the church deserves it. Its good to be reminded of what the church is meant to be. A refuge for outcasts.

11. Muppet Christmas Carol's The Love Has Gone. I know, I'm a sucker for sad songs.


12. A happier song, Happiest Millionaire's Fortuosity.


13. Another Newsies' song: Seize the day. I love the harmonies on this song. Its just gorgeous. I can't believe I don't own it.

13 Movies that deal with religion in an intriguing way.

1. Dogma
Bartleby and Loki have been kicked out of heaven. They want back in. Trying to stop them is the last Scion, a woman who has lost her faith in God and found herself on a strange journey. My favorite part, when Alanis Morissette shows up as God.

2. Constantine
Keanu Reeves and Shia something or other star in this tale of Constantine's search for redemption. Angels and demons are real, but its all a game that God and Satan play, hoping to win the most souls in the end. People are tormented and lines are crossed in the search for Isabell's or Angela's (I can't remember which twin dies) killer.

3. Stigmata
Patricia Arquette and Gabriel Byrne. Frankie is a non-catholic who starts exhibiting stigmata. Gabriel Byrne is the priest sent to investigate.

4. The Devil's Advocate.
Kevin has his dream job. But maybe he has a bit too much power and temptation since his boss is sort of Satan and offering him the world. Though this is a dirty movie, I love that they comment on vanity. Vanity gets them every time.

5. The Omen
Who names their child Damien? How evil is that? Of course, he's gonna be evil. Especially since he's the anti-Christ. Hello.

6. The Sound of Music
Maria, she's a nun. Until she falls in love with the father of her charges.

7. The Order
Heath Ledger is very good in this film. A more accurate title would be, the sin eater. He discovers the world of the sin eater, a man who, for a price, will take your sins away right before you die. He takes your sin unto himself and you are absolved.

8. Bless the Child
Maggie raises her sisters child from infancy. As the child grows, there is something different about her. Then children start dying in their city. Maggie must protect her at any cost.

9. Lost Souls
Winona Ryder is Maya, a member of a small group that believes that just as God became man in Jesus, so will Satan take on human form. She must stop the transformation.

10. The Haunting.
yes, this is stretching it a bit, but she seems like a good catholic girl. Lili Taylor's character has cared for her ailing mother for years, an eternity in purgatory. She receives a mysterious phone call and finds herself as part of a supposed sleep study, but truly a study on fear and group responses to fear. Yes, its corny, thanks dad, but I love the house in this movie. It is so elaborate and detailed.

11. Fallen.
Denzel Washington is on the hunt of a killer. A killer who was put to death... The spirit in him walks the earth, transferring from person to person with a mere touch.

12. Da Vinci Code.
Long and boring. What a long and boring movie. My dad fell asleep.

13. Yentl
Yes, it is explicitly religious. But what a look into their lives! And a wonderful soundtrack. :-}

13 classic films I highly recommend. :-} In no particular order, of course.

1. Suddenly, Last Summer.
I may have blogged about this one before. I love Elizabeth Taylor and Katherine Hepburn in this story of a young girl, traumatized by a summer trip and placed in a mental institution. Instead of dealing with her, her aunt, the lovely Katherine Hepburn, wants her to have a lobotomy.

2. High Society
Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra star in this tale of a young woman about to marry, when her ex-husband shows up on her doorstop. Of course, he brings Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Celeste Holm. Frank falls in love with Grace, even though Celeste is madly in love with him. Grace eventually wises up and figures out what is best for her. Its a great movie filled with wonderful music, it is interesting to hear Bing Crosby and Sinatra sing together.

3. The Lady Eve.
Eve is the daughter of a riverboat gambler and con man. She falls in love and marries but her past catches up with her.

4. Gaslight
Ingrid Bergman stars as Paula, a woman who takes her new husband to live in house her aunt was murdered in. As she adjusts to married life and living in the house she discovered her aunt's body in, she finds herself more and more isolated by her seemingly overprotective husband.

5. The Thin Man
This mystery series is wonderfully fun. Myrna Loy and William Powell star as Nick & Nora. Nick is a retired investigator who enjoys the new life of leisure his marriage has afforded him. Nora is a curious socialite who longs for adventure. One way or another, they end up investigating murders.

6. Laura.
The detective assigned to Laura's murder falls hopelessly in love with her memory as he speaks to her friends and former lovers.

7. Wife Vs. Secretary.
This film has an all star cast including Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and Myrna Loy. Myrna Loy is worried that she is going to lose her husband, Gable, to his beautiful secretary played by Jean Harlow.

8. Funny Face.
Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire star in this tale of a young bookstore clerk turned model.

9. How to steal a million starring Peter O'Toole and Audrey Hepburn.
Audrey's family has a wonderful statue on display at the museum, the only problem is that its fake. Instead of letting her family be ruined by its discovery, she plans to rob the museum and steal the statue.

10. How to marry a millionaire
Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe star in this hunt for husbands. Three models take an apartment together in hopes of landing rich husbands, each find love, but not where they expected to.

11. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Also starring Marilyn Monroe with Jane Russell. Jane Russell is Marilyn's best friend sent along to chaperon the free spirit who truly believes that diamonds are a girls best friend. On the way to France, Jane finds herself falling in love only to find out that he's investigating Marylin.

12. Casablanca.
After my extreme disappointment in Gone with the Wind, I didn't expect to like Casablanca, but I loved it. Humphrey Bogart is wonderful as the night club owner in love with the girl he once had but lost. There are so many classic movie lines in this film, its a shame to miss it.

13. Vertigo.
I had to include at least one Hitchcock film. James Stewart finds himself suffering vertigo after losing a friend on the force. A friend asks him to follow his wife to see where she goes all day and Stewart becomes obsessed with her.

13 books that I want to read, but probably won't.


1. The Third Translation by Matt Bondurant.
an American Egyptologist living in London has less than a week to unlock the secrets of the Stela of Paser, a funerary stone whose references to a "third way" of deciphering the hieroglyphics inscribed on the stone have teased, tempted and eluded would-be translators for centuries.


2. The book of air and shadows by Michael Gruber.
the lives of two men are changed forever by William Shakespeare and the letters of Richard Bracegirdle, a 16th-century English spy and soldier.


3. Son of a witch by Gregory Maguire. I read the first one and love the musical but haven't made it through the book.


4. Ysabel by Guy Gavriel Kay.
15-year-old Ned Marriner is spending a spring vacation with his celebrated photographer father during a shoot of the Cathedral of Saint-Sauveur. His mother, a physician with Doctors without Borders, is in the Sudan, so Ned and Dad are extremely worried. Exploring Saint-Sauveur, Ned meets American exchange-student Kate Wenger, who knows a lot about the history of Aix. The two surprise a knife-carrying, scar-faced stranger in the cathedral, who tells them, "I think you ought to go. . . . You have blundered into the corner of a very old story." Ned and Kate, then the rest of his family, including the aunt and uncle from England and his mother, are drawn into an ancient conflict with the shades of Celtic spirits.



5. Brotherhood of the Holy Shroud by Julia Navarro.
A fire at the Turin cathedral, where Jesus' shroud is about to be displayed, leads to the discovery of a secret group that is after the holy relic. Descended from a disciple of Jesus who obtained the original shroud, those sent to reclaim the cloth cut out their tongues so they will not disclose their mission.


6. Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley. One of the greatest Arthur legend movies, but I've not gotten around to the book...


7. The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. The first real mystery written and a great movie. I checked it out and read about the first 50 pages...


8. Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen.
Lots of our staff have told me how good this book was...I'll probably never read it though.


9. Savage Garden by Mark Mills.
Two murders committed 400 years apart form the core of British author Mills's outstanding second novel.


10. Ghostwalk by Rebbecca Stott.
The mysterious drowning death of Elizabeth Vogelsang, a Cambridge University scholar who was almost finished writing a controversial biography of Isaac Newton, leads her son, Cameron Brown, to recruit Lydia Brooke, his former lover, to complete the book.


11. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
I read the first one and it was a very good book. I should read the second one.


12. Medici Dagger by Cameron West.
I requested this one through ILL but didn't end up reading it.


13. Grail Conspiracy by Lynn Sholes.
On assignment in the Middle East, television journalist Cotten Stone stumbles upon an archaeological dig that uncovers the world's most-sought-after religious relic: the Holy Grail. With his last dying breath, Dr. Gabriel Archer gives it to Cotten, uttering "You are the only one" in a language she's heard from only one other person--her deceased twin sister.

So, why haven't I read any of these? My attention span gets shorter and shorter and I find it difficult to get into a book. I'm currently reading Lean Mean 13 by Janet Evanovich and the third translation. The Brotherhood book listed above is sounding more interesting...I think I'll check it out too. :-}

13 of my favorite tv characters

In no particular order of course...


1. Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. James Marsters. Spike was the bad boy who fell in love and wanted to be good, just not too good. James Marsters is currently doing a concert in Long Island on June 30th.



2. Eyes Only from Dark Angel. Michael Weatherly. I don't know why he couldn't just accept that it was okay that he couldn't walk. I liked that even though he had money (for some of the show) he still cared enough to make a difference in a non-money giving way. Mr. Weatherly currently plays Tony on NCIS.



3. Jaye from Wonderfalls. Caroline Dhavernas. Her character was such a good representation of our generation, in ways of course. That disconnected but not entirely caring feeling was sadly familiar... It doesn't seem that she has an official website but tv.com has some info on her. It doesn't seem that she's been up to much.



4. Dean from Supernatural. Jensen Ackles. I think that its hilarious that he has the name his "brother" had on Gilmore Girls. I like Dean better than Sam because he takes care of his brother and has a good heart. I'm looking forward to the new season.



5. Lexie from Monarch of the Glen. Dawn Steele. She has so much spunk and can take charge when things get screwy. It seems that Dawn Steele is quite active in Scotland. Good for her.



6. Kaylee from Firefly. Jewel Staite. Kaylee was very honest and maybe a little awkward. It seems that she is going to be in the fourth season of Stargate Atlantis.



7. Janette from Forever Knight. Deborah Duchene. While I of course love Nick, Janette reminded him of his past and the way that he was able to love. She was a prostitute in her human life and was able to find some happiness with Nick for a while anyway. She has retired from show business.



8. Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Alyson Hannigan. I always loved that she was so smart. She is currently on How I met your mother.



9. Bug from Crossing Jordan. Ravi Kapoor. I loved the episode where he was arrested by Homeland Security because it makes us think about how far our country goes to protect (?) us.



10. Xander from Buffy. Nicholas Brendan. He really was the heart of the show. Though he made some awful decisions, he tried to do what he thought was best and was always a sort of geeky fun guy. It looks like he's doing theatre now.



11. Glory from Buffy. Clare Kramer. I loved that she was super tough, stylish and pretty. She was a very good nemesis for Buffy. She currently has 3 movies coming out next year.


12. Cordelia from Buffy and Angel. Charisma Carpenter. It was so interesting to watch her transform from a bratty snob into a higher being and into a demon who wrecked havoc onto the world. Charisma has recently been in some made for tv movies and was on that show on Tuesday nights...



13. Buffy from Buffy. :-} Sarah Michelle Gellar. Of course I love the characters I've forgotten, Angel, Seth Green, Tara, Giles, but lets face it, the show was about Buffy. She grew up from a popular teenager to outcast to grown up to leader of her own group that saved the world. A lot. It seems that she is staying busy.

13 Shows I currently love, in no particular order.

1. House Hunters. I watch this either at 7:30 or 10pm, the hunters look at three different houses and pick one to buy. They always get the house they want.
2. Monarch of the Glen. I am on season 2 right now. I love this show! I didn't think that I would but its so cute.
3. Mind of Mencia. Mencia can be very dirty but he makes some good observations about life.
4. Colbert Report. He is so entertaining. :-}
5. Now I'll get into more mainstream shows, Bones. You knew Angela would eventually agree to marry him! I can't wait til next weeks episode.
6. Supernatural. Oooh, evil genie that made Dean think everything was alright for a while. But even in his ideal world, things were not ideal.
7. NCIS. According to their website, they're having a special viewing on the night I get married.
8. Cities of the Underworld. An educational show about the history of some cities and things that lurk below the modern day streets.
9. Roswell. I just finished season 2. It had a horrible ending!
10. CSI. Will we ever find out who the miniature murderer is?
11. Criminal Minds. Ooh, we'll get back to the psycho serial killer that Gideon let go earlier this season.
12. Fox and Friends. They are my morning tv selection. Well, I flip back and forth between local news, VH1 and Fox and Friends.
13. Finally, all of my favorite canceled shows...Buffy, Angel, Wonderfalls, Firefly, Forever Knight, Joan of Arcadia, you are missed.

13 things on my mind today.

1. Moving the wedding stuff. We've put it all in the dining room to see what we have, but Josh needs to move his desk in there. I wonder where it will end up next.
2. Painting my toenails. Tis Sandal season once again. I need to paint my toenails so that I can wear open toe shoes this summer. I didn't wear them last year but I'm more comfortable with my feet this year.
3. Rosswell. I just finished disc 3 of season 2. I watched the Christmas episode this morning. Max stands by when a man sacrifices his own life to save his daughter and is then haunted by the man until Max restores the balance. He does this by curing a room full of children in the oncology department. What a wonderful gift to have and how awful to have to hide it. It reminds me of the 4400 and Shawn's(?) power. He is able to heal so many more and be up front about it on that show.
4. Table clothes. We need a few more for the wedding.
5. Movies. I have too many movies. I don't watch most of them so I should just sell them. I shouldn't keep them if I'm not going to watch them. They just take up space.
6. Reading. I should really read more. I work at a library but spend most of my time on the internet and computers. I should read more. I've started The Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber and its really good, but my attention span is kind of short right now.
7. Sleep. I haven't been sleeping well. First it was being sick, then the heat, then last night I was wide awake and every time I woke up after finally falling asleep, I was wide awake once again. Too much on my mind.
8. SimplyReports. It is to Polaris Library Systems as Report Writer was to the Galaxy system. I love it. I hope we get it approved.
9. 50 minute tv series. There should be more shows that are 50 minutes long. And I should get them for the library. They are perfect for watching on my lunch hour.
10. Cleaning out closets. The closet Josh will have is looking much better since he got the wedding stuff out. I need to clean out the rest of it. Its only about 1/4 filled with my clothes and I obviously don't wear them since I hadn't really looked in the closet for months before getting my shorts out this morning. Most of the clothes should really go to good will.
11. Brochures. I'm printing out 500 of our genealogy brochures for a genealogy conference in August. I'm at 200 now. I can do 50 a day if I push my printer. I'm printing them on perforated glossy brochure paper. They're very pretty.
12. Amy's Random Thoughts scavenger hunt. Its very fun! Today's was much easier than yesterdays hunt.
13. Interlibrary loan. Isn't that a great service? To know that if your library doesn't have a book that they may be able to borrow it from another library...that's just amazing. Instead of having to buy it, you can request it through interlibrary loan. That's a great service.

4. Decide final wording for the invitations
5. Discuss the ceremony
6. Do a practice table with wedding decorations

8. Mail out the invitations
9. Get the RSVP on our website up and running
10. Create RSVP postcards to send with the invitations
11. Create mailing labels for wedding thank you's
12. Buy some new clothes, actually using that gift card from future hubby
13. Relax.

13 TV shows that I love in no particular order

1. NCIS- I didn't like it as much until I started watching it every week. I love zeba and I especially enjoy Dinozo since I figured out that he was on Dark Angel!

2. Bones-Its much better this season.

3. CSI- Grissom better come back! While I enjoy the man who plays Keppler, i love Grissom too much for him to leave!

4. Law & Order Criminal Intent-I very much prefer the original partners.

5. Supernatural-Such a good show.

6. Law & Order SVU-I record it since its on at 10pm.

Shows that are no longer on primetime:

7. Buffy the Vampire Slayer- Josh got me a signed picture for Christmas! Nicholas Brendan, Alyson Hannigan and SMG all signed it! Too fun.

8. Angel- Even though Buffy was only in high school for 3 of the 7 seasons (I think) Angel is the much more grown up show.

9. Forever Knight- probably the first vampire show that I ever watched. It was on at 10:30pm.

10. Wonderfalls-canceled much too soon.

11. Tru Calling: though I have not actually watched my DVDs of this show, I do love it.

12. Animaniacs- so much fun!

13. south park. Yes, its a dirty show and I do not watch all of the episodes because some are much too dirty even for me, but I do love some of the episodes. Like when Cartman inherited a million dollars and bought himself a theme park while Kyle got a hemorrhoid. In the end, they learned that being selfish does not work out well so we shouldn't be envious of the selfish person even if they get cool stuff because they'll still be worse off in the end.

13 fun things about working in a Library

1. Reading. Lots of books and you get prepub magazines so you request them first!
2. Computers. Lots of time spent on computers.
3. Compiling statistics. Is it odd that I think its fun?
4. Movies. I can order classic movies for our collection and watch them for free.
5. The Quiet. What can I say, I love the quiet and while sometimes it gets a bit crazy, its usually nice and quiet.
6. Puppet Show. Its very entertaining to watch your coworkers put on a puppet show. Where else do you get to do that?
7. Music. I love ordering CDs for the library.
8. Inter library Loan. Its like Christmas every Tuesday.
9. Being the supplier. Of books of course!
10. Tax forms. They are so useful and people need them. Its nice to make people come into the library to get them.
11. New books, different from books in general. You can count on our ordering staff to order the latest Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child book.
12. Email. All day access to email. And the Internet. For free!
13. Staff. Our library staff is great, easy to get along with and fun loving.

13 of the best Christmas movies ever (in my opinion of course)

13. Santa Claus is coming' to town- the claymation version of the origins of Santa Claus is just wonderful.
12. Its a very merry Muppet Christmas Movie- So cute with Piggy trapped in the snow and Kermit meeting the Fraggles. And its quite random with the "Christmas Turkey" hiding from the Swedish Chef and eventually thinking of Big Bird as the big gobbler gobbler.
11. The Santa Clause, 1 & 2 and hopefully 3 as soon as I see them.
10. Santa Claus the Movie- with Dudley Moore. Its such a strange movie!
9. Charlie Brown Christmas- his poor little Christmas tree.
8. Christmas Eve on Sesame Street- A nice movie
7. Year without a Santa Claus- I'm Mr. Snow Miser, I'm Mr. Snow...
6. All I want for Christmas- with Ethan Randal (later known as Ethan Embry). Its a very cute movie.
5. Muppet's Christmas Carol- Somewhat creepy with the singing Marley & Marley brothers, a freaky ghost of Christmas past and even jelly beans...hm
4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer- they classic claymation version of course.
3. Meet me in St. Louis- Judy Garland at her absolute best singing about the boy next door. Though it takes place in more than just Christmas and lets face it, I wasn't thrilled by the boy next door's decision to stop going to college so they could get married, it is a sweet movie.
2. White Christmas- what is better than Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Vera Ellen and Rosemary Clooney?
1. Christmas in Connecticut-the Barbra Stanwyk version is just so sweet. Yes, she lies and the whole thing starts out with deception, but some of the scenes are incredibly romantic.
